Do you have questions about careers in geology? Fieldwork? How to get research experience? Wondering what grad school is like?
Sign up to be paired with a graduate student mentor! We pair up mentors and mentees based on subject interest, personal background, and level of desired involvement.
All undergraduate geology majors are eligible. Take our survey (offered in the Fall each year) to answer questions about your background, interests, goals, and schedule availability. You will be paired with an EPS graduate student who shares similar interests who can best answer your questions about research/grad school/geology careers/coursework! This is an informal, low-commitment mentorship. You and your mentor can meet as often as you each decide. Typically, mentor-mentee pairs choose to meet 1-2 times per month to check in. You can ask your mentor about their path to grad school, their experience in graduate school, how to pursue geology careers, and how to pursue research experience. Your mentor will serve as an additional source of support beyond your professors, TAs, and advisors. Sometimes, mentors can also offer research experience within their lab!
Geology majors of any year (first-year through senior +) can sign up to be mentored! Contact us if you have any questions!
View our GeoMInS Program if you are a URM (underrepresented minority student) and/orGeMS scholar interested in a more hands-on mentorship.
